Celebrity Bartenders Serve Up Fun to Benefit Kids’ Cookbook & Health Guide
The Junior League of Springfield is proud to host a Movers and Shakers night on Thursday, August 27 from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at Bennigan’s Tavern in the Springfield Hilton Hotel. There is no cost to attend, and celebrity bartenders, including Rachael Atchison from FOX, Miss Capital City 2009 Corina Harwood, Joe Langfelder, Brian Reardon, and special guest Karen Hasara, will tend bar during the event. All tips will be donated to development of Fit by the Forkful: Delicious and Nutritious Recipes for Kids, a children’s health guide and cookbook presented by the Junior League of Springfield.
Throughout the evening attendees will have a chance to purchase 50/50 tickets and to bid on silent auction baskets created for families, sports-lovers, party hosts, and girls’ night out enthusiasts. In addition, Acoustigasm, including Ryan Louis from the local Red Letter Merchant band, will provide music entertainment.
All proceeds from the silent auction and 50/50 raffle will also benefit Fit by the Forkful: Delicious and Nutritious Recipes for Kids, which is currently being developed by the Junior League of Springfield with an anticipated distribution date in Spring 2010. This health guide will not only provide children with recipes, but also activities and educational materials to learn how to live a healthier lifestyle. Fit by the Forkful is a local initiative implemented by the Junior League of Springfield in response to the national Association of Junior Leagues International mission of preventing childhood obesity.
